Announced the names of Russian players

The head coach of the Russina National team announced the names of 14 court players who will take part in the Handball World Championship in St. Petersburg.

Coach has to decide yet who of the three goalkeepers: Tatjana Alizar, Maria Sidorova or Inna Syslina will not get to participate in the Championship.

The following players will present Russia at the Championship:
Flank men Ekaterina Marennikova, Jana Yskova, Polina Vjahireva, Emilia Tyrei
Backward Anna Koreeva, Elena Polenova, Ljudmila Postnova, Irina Bliznova, Elena Sergeeva
Pivot Anna Kyrepta, Irina Poltoratskaya

The list of players my changes only if some of the players get traumas before the beginning of the Championship.

Information for St. Petersburg Residents!

The Organizing Committee of the XVII Women's World Handball Championship is pleased to announce that children under 14 years old, pensioners and peope with disabilities are entitled to visit games of the Championship free of charge. (They have to present a corresponding certification upon entering the stadium).

Besides that, all major St.Petersburg Universities will distribute invitation tickets among their students.

A press conference devoted to the beginning of the XVII Womens World Handball Championship in St. Petersburg from 5 to 18 December will take place 23 November, 2005 at Club-Casino Astoria ( Malaya Morskaya St., 22). Beginning at Noon .

Participating in the press conference:
- The World Championship Organizing Committee Chairman, Vice-governor of St. Petersburg Sergey Tarasov;
- St. Petersburg Physical Culture and Sports Committee Chairman Vladimir Tchazov;
- International Handball Federation Commission for organization and realization of the XVII Womens World Championship Chairman Alexander Kozhykhov;
- First Vice-president of the Russian Handball Union Jury Reznikov;
- Championship Director Mikhail Rudnik.

The Organizers will inform you about the Championship site preparation, the Russian national team training and media work regulations.

The Russian National Team Announced its Plans

The head coach of the Russian national womens handball team announced the plans of preparation for the World Championship, which will take place in St. Petersburg from 5 to 18 December.

The team will gather 12 October in the city of Novogorsk located not far from Moscow, then from 21 to 24 October they will take part in the international tournament in Austria. After that they will play in two similar tournaments in Denmark and Norway. 26 November the sportsmen return to Russia and will take a break until 2 December when they will gather in St. Petersburg.

At the opening day of the Championship they will play in their group A with Uruguay, with China - on the 6th, the Netherlands on the 7 th, Croatia on the 9 th and Japan on the 10th of December.

The championship starts 9 September 2005

9 September 2005 the Russian Womens Handball Championship starts. Super league teams will compete for the right to play at the International Championship that will take place in St. Petersburg in December. It will consist of two tours only. The first tour will take place 9 15 September in Moscow, Krasnodar and Rostov on Don, the second will take place 22 25 September in Maikop, Ufa and Krasnodar.

16 20 November the Russian team will play at the International Tournament in Denmark against the French, Ukrainian and Norwegian sportsmen.

International Handball Federation (IHF) announce the name of 32 referees appointed to work on the XVII International Womens Hanball Champioship in St. Petersburg. Among them there is the Russian team of Victor Poladenko and Igor Chernega.
